We drove out to visit with Dr. Opitz in July of 2004. At that time, he diagnosed Ben with the FG syndrome instead of Opitz G/BBB syndrome.

The Diagnosis

    • In July, 2008, Ben had a Microarray Analysis made on his DNA. It proved he has a microdeletion on 17q21.31.
    • At this point in time, we don't know if he has just the 17q21.31 Microdeletion Syndrome alone, or if he also has FG Syndrome.
    • The micro-rarray analysis determines he has this deletion, but doesn't explain all of his anomalies.
    • His behaviors and pedigree fit perfectly with the FG Syndrome.
    • More will be learned about each syndrome as research continues!
